Type: Writing about art
The term "writing about art" refers to prose that has visual art (including architecture, film and the decorative arts), artists and/or the art world as its subject.
Works categorized as writing about art may include a piece about a Whitney Biennial, a discussion of the curatorial decisions made for an exhibition at the Guggenheim, an article on the structural design and interior decoration of a California mansion, an introduction to the catalogue for a solo art exhibition, an interview with a painter, etc.
If the subject of the text is not clearly indicated through its title, additional information will be provided in the notes field of the citation. The terminology will be as specific as possible, e.g. a text about a Picasso exhibition will indicate "Picasso" as the subject rather than "Cubism," unless the Cubist movement in general is discussed in the text.
