Type: Miscellaneous prose
The term "miscellaneous prose" refers to critical essays, articles, book reviews, prefaces, introductions, afterwords, etc., by or about Ashbery.
Miscellaneous prose does not include Ashbery's art criticism (see the category "writing about art"), nor should it be confused with texts of a more informal nature (see the category "miscellaneous published remark").
Items categorized as miscellaneous prose may include the publication of a lecture given by Ashbery, a newspaper review of a collection of Ashbery's poetry, an introductory essay to an anthology of New York School poetry, a doctoral dissertation on Ashbery's work, an introduction by Ashbery to another poet's collection, etc.
