Section J2 includes blurbs written by Ashbery with the intent to promote the work of other writers and artists in a variety of media.
Blurbs by Ashbery are defined as short texts written expressly for promotional purposes; any promotional copy that reprints comments made by Ashbery in the course of a book review or a citation for a contest winner, for example, is not considered a Section J2 item.
Blurbs written by Ashbery that are re-used for other works by the same author (i.e., works other than that for which the blurb was specifically written) are not given separate citations. Such re-use may be mentioned in the notes field of the original citation.
If the ARC archive does not have an example of the blurb on or in the actual publication to which it refers, the text may be cited from related sources: e.g. news releases and publishers' catalogues. In such cases, the fields for author/editor, publication, publisher, etc., will be filled in as if the information had been taken from the publication itself, and the source of that information will be clarified in the notes field. Please note that in some cases the publisher's catalogue or other miscellaneous publicity material may constitute the only publication of Ashbery's blurb.
The text of each blurb is given in the title field of the citation.
