The instruction manual: |
Bibliographic code: Section B |
Section B includes books and pamphlets with contributions by or translated by Ashbery, including poetry, fiction, miscellaneous prose, etc., but excluding writing about art (see Section E). Section B materials are those for which Ashbery is not the primary author or primary translator of the entire volume. Section B items usually represent the first publication of work by Ashbery in book form. First-time book publication is exclusive to each country of publication, with the exception of translations of Ashbery's work that are published bilingually (i.e., in which the original work in English is published simply to accompany the translated text; see Section G). Section B material may include books for which Ashbery wrote introductions, or anthologies constituting the first book publication of Ashbery's texts. Books that reprint pieces from other books are generally not given separate citations in Section B (see Section M), although they may be mentioned in the notes field of other citations. Books which reprint pieces from periodicals are Section B items.
Occasionally, if it is not clear whether a publication that appears as part of a series should be considered a book (Section B) or periodical (Section C), the item may be classified as both B and C.
Examples of Section B material
